Thauvin on fire with Lens, Zidane could recall him to France squad in November
With 14 decisive contributions in 12 matches this season, Florian Thauvin is a serious candidate for a call-up from Zinédine Zidane for November's international break, when France will face Italy and Turkey in the Nations League.
Florian Thauvin is emerging as one of the possible surprises in Zinédine Zidane’s next squad list, expected on Friday, November 6 for the November international break. France will face Italy on November 12 in Milan, then Turkey on November 15 in Bordeaux, in the Nations League.
The RC Lens winger is going through the best form of his recent career: 6 goals and 8 assists in 12 matches across all competitions this season. Saturday evening, after Lens’s victory over Paris FC (2-1), he made no secret of his ambitions. « Of course I want to go to the France team, because I love the France team and because I have a history with the France team. I’ve never felt this strong. And of course, it would be a dream to discover Zidane », he said.
The former Marseille player has 13 caps. Recalled in October 2025 by Didier Deschamps after six years away, he played his last international match on November 16 in Azerbaijan. A call-up from Zidane would therefore constitute a second life in the French shirt.
For this second squad list since taking office, the manager will have to manage without several key players. Ousmane Dembélé, Esteban Lepaul and Manu Koné are ruled out, as is William Saliba, still injured. On the other hand, the returns of Ibrahima Konaté and Aurélien Tchouaméni, both at Real Madrid and absent from the first September break, seem likely. Marcus Thuram, Inter Milan striker, should also rejoin the group.
In his first official squad list on September 18, Zidane had called up seven new players: Guillaume Restes, Jérémy Jacquet, Andy Diouf, Lucas Da Cunha, Esteban Lepaul, then Jean Butez and Leny Yoro as medical jokers. This time, no new recruit seems expected, but the winger spot left vacant by Dembélé opens the door to a less predictable choice — and Thauvin believes in it.
