Ballon d'Or ceremony at London Palladium delayed 30 minutes by heavy traffic
The 2025 Ballon d'Or ceremony at the London Palladium has been pushed back 30 minutes to 8:30pm BST after heavy traffic disrupted the red carpet arrivals. Harry Kane is the favourite to claim the award, with the winner expected to be announced around 10pm.
The Ballon d’Or ceremony at the London Palladium has been delayed by 30 minutes after heavy traffic around the central London venue disrupted red carpet arrivals on Monday night.
The event, hosted by Kate Scott and Thierry Henry, was originally scheduled to begin at 8pm BST but will now get under way at 8:30pm. The winner is still expected to be announced at approximately 10pm.
Reporters on-site attributed the hold-up to the sheer volume of fans and crowds that gathered in and around the Palladium, creating significant congestion for guests trying to reach the venue.
England captain Harry Kane enters the evening as the favourite to claim football’s most prestigious individual prize. A win for Kane would represent a landmark moment for English football, with no England player having previously lifted the Ballon d’Or.
