Tchouaméni absent for second consecutive match, Real Madrid without midfielder against Real Sociedad
Sidelined in the first Liga matchday against Espanyol, Aurélien Tchouaméni will not be available on Wednesday for Real Madrid's first home match of the season at the Bernabéu, according to Marca.
Aurélien Tchouaméni will miss a second consecutive Liga match with Real Madrid. The French international midfielder is not included in the squad selected by José Mourinho to face Real Sociedad on Wednesday evening at the Bernabéu, in the 2nd matchday of the Spanish championship.
Yet the signals seemed encouraging earlier in the week. Marca reported that Tchouaméni had participated in collective training on Monday, having already resumed work two days after the victorious trip to Barcelona against Espanyol (1-2). But the Frenchman was absent from Tuesday morning’s session, a sign that his recovery is not yet sufficient to join the squad.
In the first matchday, Mourinho had lined up a 4-2-3-1 with Bernardo Silva and Federico Valverde in a double pivot. While Silva did not shine, Valverde delivered a convincing performance, offering the Portuguese coach a solid solution while awaiting the return of his French midfielder.
Tchouaméni is not the only absentee in Madrid’s medical room. Eder Militao, Endrick, Rodrygo, Raul Asencio and Ferland Mendy are also unavailable, forcing Mourinho to make do with a reduced squad for this first home fixture of the season.
