Seven wins in eight matches: Lazio opens three-point lead over Inter in Serie A
Lazio defeated Parma 2-1 on Saturday thanks to Taylor and an own goal by Diego Carlos, extending their lead at the top of Serie A to three points ahead of Inter before the Nerazzurri travel to Florence on Sunday.
Lazio consolidated their position as Serie A leaders by beating Parma 2-1 on Saturday, bringing their record to seven wins in eight matches and opening a three-point gap over Inter Milan.
The Romans made the difference in the second half: Liam Taylor opened the scoring in the 51st minute, before an own goal by Diego Carlos doubled the lead seven minutes later. Parma reduced the deficit in added time through Lontani (90+5), but it was not enough to reverse the trend.
Lazio remain the only unbeaten team in the championship, a consistency that contrasts with the sluggish start to the season some observers had anticipated. With a three-point lead, the capital club approaches the rest of the fixture list in a position of strength.
Inter Milan will have the chance to close the gap as early as Sunday when they host Fiorentina. A slip-up by the Nerazzurri would leave Lazio alone at the top with a comfortable cushion.
Further down the table, AS Roma, in third place, have already lost ground following their 3-3 draw at Naples, a result that complicates their title ambitions at this stage of the season.
