Mbappé seals Clasico at Camp Nou with brace, Camavinga decisive in 87th minute
Real Madrid overcame FC Barcelona 2-1 at Camp Nou on Sunday evening, claiming the season's first Clasico thanks to a brace from Kylian Mbappé, with the winning goal in the 87th minute set up by a brilliant Eduardo Camavinga play.
Real Madrid came from behind to beat FC Barcelona 2-1 at Camp Nou, securing the season’s first Clasico with a brace from Kylian Mbappé, the second goal arriving in the 87th minute from a stunning Eduardo Camavinga move.
The French striker opened the scoring before half-time, capitalizing on a poor clearance by Gerard Martin from a Yan Diomandé cross (41st). Barcelona appeared to take control in the second half: Raphinha equalized around the hour mark (61st) and the Blaugranas, driven by Lamine Yamal, pushed hard to win in front of their home crowd.
But it was Camavinga, brought on in the 80th minute in place of Bernardo Silva, who turned the match. Released by Arda Güler, the French midfielder eliminated Pau Cubarsí with a perfectly executed nutmeg at full speed on the edge of the box, before cutting back with his right foot — his weaker foot — for Mbappé to finish.
The move began with a technical sequence from Jude Bellingham, who executed a double touch and a roulette in front of Gabriel Jesus to launch the counter-attack. The Englishman passed to Camavinga, who then switched play to Güler on the right before appearing in the box to set up Real.
With this victory on Catalan soil, Real Madrid left Barcelona with three points and a collective display in the closing stages of a long-contested Clasico.
