Mbappé opens scoring with fortunate goal for Real Madrid at Camp Nou
Kylian Mbappé scored the opening goal of the Clasico on Sunday evening at Camp Nou, capitalizing on a misplayed clearance by Gerard Martin to beat Joan Garcia in the 41st minute. His tenth goal in La Liga this season.
Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring for Real Madrid against FC Barcelona on Sunday evening in the Clasico at Camp Nou, in La Liga, with a strike as unintentional as it was effective in the 41st minute.
Barcelona dominated proceedings against a Real Madrid side deep in their own half, but the French striker had already caught the eye with a volley from an Arda Guler cross in the 33rd minute. Five minutes before the break, on a cross from Yan Diomandé down the left, Gerard Martin cleared the ball directly onto Mbappé. The ball bounced off the Frenchman and Joan Garcia could only watch the damage unfold.
The captain of the French national team wore a broad smile as he celebrated the goal, his tenth in La Liga this season. A two-time Pichichi winner, Mbappé is on course to become the first player in history to finish as the Spanish league’s top scorer for three consecutive seasons.
