Saint-Étienne signs Austrian winger Thierno Ballo for three million euros
AS Saint-Étienne officially announced on Saturday the signing of Thierno Ballo, a 24-year-old Austrian international winger from Wolfsberg. He becomes the club's fourth summer recruit.
AS Saint-Étienne officially announced on Saturday the arrival of Thierno Ballo, a 24-year-old Austrian international winger, from Austrian club Wolfsberg for approximately three million euros. It is the fourth summer signing for the Greens, after Sohaib Naïr, Jakob Breum and Mamour Ndiaye.
Formed notably at Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea, Ballo spent last season on loan at Millwall, in the English second division, where he compiled one goal and six assists in 35 matches.
“Thierno is a player with an attacking profile who brings a lot of activity, capable of repeating runs throughout a match. He gives everything on the pitch and that’s also what pleased us about him,” said Loïc Perrin, the club’s sporting director, in an official statement.
