Saint-Étienne concluded a perfect start to the Ligue 2 season by crushing Grenoble 4-0 at Geoffroy-Guichard in the third round of the championship. Les Verts take sole possession of first place, pushing Montpellier two points back.
The match never left any doubt. Csongvai opened the scoring in the 13th minute, Ballo doubled the lead six minutes later, and Cardona put Grenoble away just before half-time (45+3). Davitashvili completed the demonstration late in the match (82nd) for a decisive result.
This victory follows successes at Sochaux (0-3) and against Clermont (3-1). Saint-Étienne is thus one of only two teams still unbeaten after three rounds, alongside Annecy, who can join Les Verts at the top with a victory at Reims in their next match.
The Stéphanois will target a fourth consecutive win in their next away trip to Dijon.
