Louis Saha has claimed that Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen is actively waiting for Manchester United to make their move, as manager Michael Carrick looks to add attacking reinforcements before the summer transfer window closes. Separately, midfielder Toby Collyer has left the club permanently, joining West Bromwich Albion for an initial £3m.

Saha, a former United striker, said he has personal knowledge of Osimhen’s desire to move to Old Trafford, despite the 27-year-old Nigeria international also being linked with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

“I know for a fact that Victor Osimhen is a Manchester United fan,” Saha said. “He loves Man United. I have seen it in his eyes, the impact the club has on him, and he sees the impact he could have on this team.”

Saha drew a comparison between Osimhen and Bruno Fernandes, suggesting the striker would quickly embrace the club’s culture. He also argued that Osimhen represents a better fit for United than Harry Kane would have, partly because of his potential partnership with Benjamin Sesko.

“Osimhen can be another player like Bruno Fernandes — he would quickly come to know the club inside and out,” Saha added. “All United have to do is make the connection, but that’s why it hasn’t happened yet. Osimhen is still waiting. United missed out on signing Harry Kane and that was one of their biggest mistakes, but they can correct that by signing Osimhen. He can teach Sesko about movement and being a striker, but they could also play together and combine better than Kane and Sesko could.”

Carrick has already reshaped United’s midfield this window, bringing in Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, and Carlos Baleba, while experienced goalkeeper Karl Darlow arrived as cover for Senne Lammens. Attacking reinforcements, however, have yet to follow.

On the outgoing side, Collyer has completed his permanent departure to West Brom for an initial £3m, with a further £4.6m available in add-ons. The 22-year-old made 13 appearances for United and previously spent time on loan at the Championship club before agreeing to rejoin on a full-time basis.
