Nunes and Ndiaye available as Semenyo remains sidelined for Man City vs Brighton
Manchester City host Brighton in the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium on October 31, with Matheus Nunes and Iliman Ndiaye both declared fit despite recent concerns, while Antoine Semenyo remains out with a leg injury until at least December.
Manchester City welcome Brighton to the Etihad Stadium on October 31 in the Premier League, days after the two sides met in the Carabao Cup fourth round — a tie City won 4-3 on penalties.
Head coach Enzo Maresca confirmed in his pre-match press conference that the squad is largely available, with only one confirmed absentee. “They are all available. Only Antoine Semenyo [out], the rest, they are all available,” Maresca said.
Matheus Nunes — Groin
Nunes missed City’s trip to Aston Villa last weekend and was also absent from the midweek Carabao Cup tie against Brighton. Despite that, Maresca’s Friday briefing placed him in the available group, making him a candidate to return to the squad against the Seagulls on Thursday.
Iliman Ndiaye — Cramp
Concerns arose over Ndiaye’s fitness after he was substituted against Villa while clutching his leg following an assist. Maresca moved to calm those fears on Saturday, confirming the forward was suffering from cramp rather than a more serious problem. Ndiaye was named on the bench for the midweek cup tie but did not come on, and is expected to be available again.
Antoine Semenyo — Leg
Semenyo is the one player who will not feature, and his absence is set to extend well beyond this fixture. Maresca confirmed this week that while Semenyo is in good spirits, it is too early to put a firm return date on his recovery. The winger is not expected back until December at the earliest.
Elsewhere, Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol, Elliot Anderson and Erling Haaland are all set to return after being rested for the cup tie, with Gianluigi Donnarumma also back between the posts after sitting out the midweek match.
