Riolo warns Mbappé exit from Real Madrid cannot be ruled out after conduct criticism
French journalist Daniel Riolo has said a summer departure for Kylian Mbappé from Real Madrid should not be dismissed, as criticism of his attitude and public conduct intensifies in France. Mbappé has scored 94 goals in 111 appearances for Los Blancos but is yet to win a title.
French journalist Daniel Riolo has publicly raised the prospect of Kylian Mbappé leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season, as scrutiny of the forward’s conduct and communication grows in France. Speaking on RMC Sport’s After Foot, Riolo said a departure should not be ruled out — though his remarks represent commentary rather than any confirmed request from the player or movement from the club.
MARCA reported on 8 October that both L’Équipe and Riolo have voiced concern over Mbappé’s attitude at the Bernabéu. L’Équipe’s assessment, as described by MARCA, is that his approach has been overly individualistic and that his handling of public communication has become a source of unease around the club. These are the French newspaper’s judgements, not a stated position from Real Madrid.
A Paris nightlife outing and a subsequent bicycle ride in Switzerland during his recovery from a knee injury drew criticism from some Madrid supporters and sections of the Spanish media, who viewed the behaviour as unprofessional. His return to training a day ahead of schedule did not, according to MARCA, quieten the debate.
The backdrop to the criticism is a striking statistical record that has not yet translated into silverware. Mbappé has scored 94 goals in 111 appearances for Real Madrid without winning a single title with the club — a gap between individual output and collective achievement that has fed the wider conversation about his spell in the Spanish capital.
Riolo’s comments also touched on Mbappé’s public messaging, suggesting it was creating distance between the player and the club environment, and that personal ambitions appeared to be taking precedence. Neither claim has been confirmed by Real Madrid or by Mbappé’s representatives.
Separately, Transfermarkt reported on 7 October that Paris Saint-Germain have shown interest in Manchester City attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki. Transfermarkt lists Cherki’s market value at €110 million, though that is an estimate rather than a reported asking price. No bid has been made, no sanctions against City have been confirmed, and there is no indication that Cherki has expressed a desire to return to Ligue 1. The two stories — Mbappé’s future and PSG’s reported interest in Cherki — remain unconnected at this stage.
