Rice, Raya and Gabriel shortlisted for PFA Men's Player of the Year after Arsenal's title win
Three Arsenal players — Declan Rice, David Raya and Gabriel — have been nominated for the PFA Men's Player of the Year award following the Gunners' Premier League title-winning season. They are joined on the six-man shortlist by Erling Haaland, Rayan Cherki and Bruno Fernandes.
Declan Rice, David Raya and Gabriel have all been shortlisted for the PFA Men’s Player of the Year award, with Arsenal’s Premier League title run earning the club three of the six nominations. The winners will be announced at a ceremony at Manchester Opera House on Tuesday 25 August.
Rice was recognised for his tireless midfield displays and crucial set-piece deliveries throughout the campaign, while goalkeeper Raya claimed the Premier League’s Golden Glove after contributing to 19 clean sheets. Brazilian centre-back Gabriel complemented that defensive record with his own set-piece threat at the other end of the pitch.
Erling Haaland of Manchester City also features on the shortlist after finishing as the league’s top scorer with 27 goals. He is joined by City teammate Rayan Cherki, who has been a revelation since arriving last summer, and Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes, whose 21 assists — a record-breaking tally — helped United secure a return to the Champions League.
The Women’s Player of the Year shortlist is similarly competitive. Manchester City’s Bunny Shaw leads the conversation after netting 21 goals as City won both the WSL title and the FA Cup, with her club colleague Yui Hasegawa also recognised for her pivotal midfield contributions. Arsenal and England striker Alessia Russo, who scored 13 goals, is also nominated, alongside Aston Villa’s Kirsty Hanson (12 goals), Chelsea’s Lauren James and Manchester United’s Jess Park.
