Red Star took the lead in Ligue 2 on Saturday, October 10 with a 3-2 win away at Clermont on matchday 8, marking their fourth consecutive victory.
Jovany Ikanga was the architect of the Parisian success with a brace (6th, 67th), complemented by a goal from Damien Durand (54th). Clermont had reduced the deficit through Cantero (21st), but the Auvergne side failed to turn the tide and find themselves relegated to 17th place.
Pending Saint-Étienne’s result against Rodez later in the evening, Red Star hold a one-point lead over Montpellier, who had dominated Grenoble the previous day. Reims, in fourth, sit three points back following their goalless draw away at Nantes.
