Real Madrid Ready to Offer €150M for Vitinha, but PSG Has No Intention to Sell
Florentino Perez announced Thursday an offer of €150 million for a Ligue des Champions player without revealing the name. Spanish media unanimously identify Vitinha, PSG midfielder, as Real Madrid's primary target.
Real Madrid is ready to spend €150 million to recruit a Ligue des Champions player this summer, Florentino Perez announced Thursday evening, without specifying the target’s identity. For virtually all Spanish media, it can only be Vitinha, the Portuguese midfielder of Paris Saint-Germain.
The Madrid president’s statement comes two days before the club’s presidential election, in a context of bidding war between the two candidates. His rival Enrique Riquelme had opened hostilities Wednesday by promising to bring in Rodri and Erling Haaland, even committing to reimburse socios’ contributions in case of failure. Perez responded by announcing this record budget, while taking care to publicly rule out several names: Michael Olise, Haaland, Harry Kane and Jéremy Doku. He also specified that the target did not play in the Premier League.
These clues were enough for Spanish observers to identify Vitinha. “The player for whom Florentino Pérez will offer €150 million is Vitinha,” affirmed Onda Cero journalist Edu Pidal. Alvaro Benito, on Cadena Ser, agreed: “For €150M, I can only imagine Vitinha.”
But the operation faces a major obstacle: PSG has no intention of letting its metronome leave. Iturralde González, though convinced of the target’s identity, notes that Perez’s own uncertainty is revealing: “If he had the player’s agreement and was sure the club would accept the offer, he would have announced his name.” Jesús Gallego is even more categorical: “PSG will not sell, and certainly not to Real Madrid.”
Vitinha, 23, has established himself as one of Europe’s most influential midfielders since his arrival in Paris in 2022. A sale for €150 million would be a record for a player in that position.
