Rashford set to snub Fenerbahce as Man United search for late transfer solution

Marcus Rashford is set to turn down a transfer approach from Fenerbahce, according to reports, leaving Manchester United still searching for a solution to the forward’s future before the window shuts.

The Turkish club, who qualified for the Champions League, had identified Rashford as their top target and were looking to make a statement signing. However, the Sun reports that Rashford has never had any interest in moving to Turkey and will reject their approach.

The 28-year-old’s situation at Old Trafford has shifted since the summer began. After falling out with former head coach Ruben Amorim, Rashford spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Aston Villa and Barcelona. The Spanish club declined to sign him permanently at the end of the season, and he returned to United following the World Cup.

New manager Michael Carrick has reintegrated Rashford into the squad during pre-season, and the forward came off the bench at half-time in United’s Premier League opener against Hull City — a match United lost 2-0. He was unable to change the game but has reportedly impressed Carrick in the short time since his return.

Despite that, United are still believed to be open to selling Rashford given his significant wage demands. Arsenal have been touted as a possible destination, particularly with the Premier League champions expected to sell Gabriel Martinelli without a direct replacement currently lined up. Barcelona, meanwhile, have opted to sign Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi rather than pursue Rashford, and their focus for a striker remains on Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid.

Rashford’s prospects of regular minutes at United may have improved in the short term following an injury to Amad, with the winger also capable of operating through the middle. Benjamin Sesko is expected to start against Ipswich Town this weekend after returning from injury, while Joshua Zirkzee — another option through the middle — looks set to leave on a season-long loan to Fiorentina before the window closes.

United’s primary transfer activity this summer has centred on midfield, with Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos, and Carlos Baleba among their reported business, leaving Rashford’s long-term future at the club still unresolved.
