Kane parades Ballon d'Or at Allianz Arena as Bayern host Der Klassiker against Dortmund
Harry Kane carried the Ballon d'Or onto the pitch at the Allianz Arena ahead of Bayern Munich's Bundesliga clash with Borussia Dortmund, becoming the first English player to win the award since 2001 and Bayern's first winner since 1981.
Harry Kane paraded the Ballon d’Or in front of the Allianz Arena crowd on Saturday as Bayern Munich hosted Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, his first match since being crowned the world’s best player in Paris on Monday.
Kane was the last player to walk onto the pitch, trophy in hand, accompanied by his wife Katie Goodland and their four children. Both sets of players applauded him out, while Land of Hope and Glory rang around the stadium. He then addressed the crowd directly.
“Hi everyone, I just wanted to say I’m extremely proud to be a FC Bayern Munich player,” Kane told the fans. “The support you have shown me since I arrived has been incredible.”
The England captain’s Ballon d’Or triumph ended a 24-year wait for an English winner — the last was in 2001 — after he edged out Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal. It also made him the first Bundesliga player to claim the prize since 1996, and Bayern’s first recipient since 1981.
Kane’s case for the award was built on a remarkable 2024-25 season in which he scored 73 goals in 64 appearances for club and country. His 36 Bundesliga goals came in just 25 starts, and he scored in every round of the German Cup, including a hat-trick in the final, as Bayern completed the domestic double.
