Digard sacked after Le Havre's heavy defeat to PSG (1-5)
After losing 5-1 to PSG on Saturday evening at Stade Océane, Le Havre immediately terminated the contract of manager Didier Digard. The Normandy club sits bottom of Ligue 1 after nine matches.
Didier Digard was sacked by Le Havre overnight Saturday, just hours after the heavy home defeat to Paris Saint-Germain (1-5) in Matchday 9 of Ligue 1. The decision was revealed by L’Équipe.
The evening at Stade Océane turned into a nightmare for Normandy supporters, with Achraf Hakimi notably delivering a brilliant performance for the Parisians. This setback reflects a catastrophic start to the season: in nine matches, Le Havre has earned just two points, scored nine goals and conceded twenty. No victories to their name.
Bottom of the table, the club is now five points from the playoff spot. Digard, despite being given a one-year extension last June, could not survive this disastrous record. Formed at HAC, he had managed to keep the team in Ligue 1 over the previous two seasons, but will not have the chance to attempt a third time.
Le Havre’s management must now identify a successor capable of turning around an alarming situation. Before the next international break in November, Le Havre will play one more match: hosting Lorient on November 8 at 17:15.
