Raphinha hat-trick fires Barcelona to 7-2 rout as Flick sets club record with seven straight wins

Barcelona crushed Racing Santander 7-2 at Camp Nou on Wednesday, with Raphinha scoring a hat-trick to headline a dominant display that moved the Catalans three points clear of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga. The result made Hansi Flick the first manager in Barcelona’s history to win each of his side’s opening seven competitive fixtures of a season.

João Cancelo got the rout under way in the eighth minute, crashing a long-range effort in off the crossbar. Raphinha then won and converted a penalty after Pedro Felipe brought him down, before Maguette Gueye pulled one back for Racing. Barcelona quickly re-established a two-goal cushion when Cancelo’s second long-range strike deflected in off Asier Villalibre for an own goal, and Raphinha made it 4-1 before half-time after being played in by Dani Olmo.

Wojciech Szczesny replaced Joan García in goal at the interval after García appeared to pick up an injury. Racing reduced the deficit again when Yassir Zabiri capitalised on an error from Szczesny, but Barcelona responded almost immediately. Raphinha converted a second penalty — this time after Karim Adeyemi was fouled — to complete his hat-trick and take his La Liga tally to nine goals for the season.

Gabriel Jesus added a sixth from Lamine Yamal’s pass, before Yamal himself finished off a move involving Adeyemi to seal the 7-2 scoreline. The victory was Barcelona’s most emphatic of the campaign and underlined the attacking depth Flick has at his disposal.

Across their opening seven competitive fixtures, Barcelona have now scored 33 goals. The perfect domestic record leaves them three points ahead of Real Madrid in La Liga. Atlético Madrid, meanwhile, beat Osasuna 4-0 at the Metropolitano to move into third, five points behind Barcelona.
