PSG targets centre-back and striker for January transfer window

Paris Saint-Germain completed the summer transfer window without a single arrival, but the club is already preparing for the January market with two clearly identified priorities: a right centre-back and an attacking player.

Despite the revenue generated by the transfers of Bradley Barcola to Liverpool (€145 million) and Ibrahim Mbaye to Aston Villa (€55 million), the Paris executives decided against recruiting in the final hours of the transfer window. According to L’Équipe, the failure to find a centre-back was explained as much by « unreasonable financial demands » as by a lack of clear signals from the targeted players.

The Luis Campos–Luis Enrique duo had also explored the possibility of an attacking reinforcement, without success. The « rare gem », according to the media, was not found « either in attack or in defence ». The club has not, however, abandoned these two projects and intends to address them during the winter window.

Over the entire summer transfer window, PSG posted a record sales balance: €335 million received excluding bonuses, for €152 million spent. The recruits Maghnes Akliouche, Ferran Torres, Mika Godts, Lucas Digne and Khalil Ayari arrived on a compensation basis, while Alessandro Longoni signed as a free agent.
