PSG Loses Out at Last Minute, Zion Suzuki Joins Aston Villa
Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki has signed for Aston Villa on Wednesday after a deal with Paris fell through at the last minute. The exorbitant demands of his agents caused the PSG transfer to collapse.
Zion Suzuki will not be Paris Saint-Germain’s new goalkeeper. Despite an agreement reached with Parma and a private jet already booked to depart Italy, the transfer collapsed at the last minute due to the financial demands of the Japanese goalkeeper’s agents, deemed excessive by the Paris club. Aston Villa announced his arrival on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper, a standout at the last World Cup, is expected to establish himself as the number one for the Villans. His designated predecessor, Emiliano Martinez, is reported to be leaving, with Juventus Turin among the interested clubs.
Unai Emery’s side also simultaneously announced the signing of Italian left-back Matteo Ruggeri from Atlético Madrid. A double recruitment that significantly strengthens the defence of the last Ligue Europa winners.
