Paris Saint-Germain is considering a massive transformation project at Parc des Princes, dubbed “Porte des Princes,” with an estimated investment of €1.5–2 billion, according to L’Équipe. The central objective: to increase the stadium’s capacity from 48,000 to nearly 70,000 seats.

A sine qua non condition: the club must first purchase the stadium from the City of Paris before committing any euros to work. Without an agreement with the Paris municipality, the project cannot proceed. Negotiations on this point remain crucial for what comes next.

Beyond a simple expansion of the stands, the programme includes a complete overhaul of the stadium’s surroundings. A club museum, flagship retail store, residential units and a hotel are all part of the plan, with the ambition of transforming the district into a sports and commercial destination in its own right, far beyond match days.

This major construction project would force PSG to temporarily vacate its historic home. Stade de France is cited among the solutions being considered to host Paris matches during the work. Other options, such as relocating to Massy or Poissy, have remained under study until now, but the scenario of on-site renovation appears to be increasingly favoured by the Qatari owners.
