Dhorasoo Candidate for Havre Head Coach Position, Ligue 1 Bottom Club

Vikash Dhorasoo has officially expressed his interest in the head coach position at Havre AC, a club he left in crisis following Didier Digard’s dismissal, Demba Ba’s departure, and president Jean-Philippe Roussier’s resignation.

The 53-year-old consultant, vice-world champion in 2006 with the France national team, spoke on the L’Équipe du Soir programme to assert his credentials. “I think the club needs someone from the house and I am someone from the house,” he said. Born in Havre, trained at the club, he played 152 matches there between 1993 and 1998 before continuing his career at Lyon, Bordeaux, AC Milan, PSG and Livorno.

Digard was removed from his position following the heavy defeat against PSG (1-5) in the ninth matchday. Havre AC sits in last place in Ligue 1, with only two draws to their name.

Dhorasoo, who obtained his UEFA A coaching diploma last June, is not promising miracles. His stated objective is survival, which he presents as a realistic horizon rather than an overambitious goal. “What is happening at Havre is fairly normal. Even if there is a bit of a delay, fighting for survival at Havre is normal,” he stated. He is banking on his knowledge of the struggling dressing room — “I mostly played for survival, so I know what it’s like to be in a dressing room that will fight for survival” — and his ability to unite players, executives and supporters around a “sacred union”.

His candidacy remains informal for now: Dhorasoo has not been officially approached by Havre’s management, whose very composition is being rebuilt.
