PSG already targeting winter transfer window after incomplete summer in defence and midfield

PSG did not wait for the end of the summer transfer window to prepare for the next one. According to L’Équipe, Paris executives have already identified two areas to strengthen during the winter window: central defence and midfield.

While the capital club managed to make profitable sales and target profiles consistent with the philosophy established by Luis Enrique, some deals did not come to fruition. On the defensive side, several right-sided centre-backs were studied, but no advanced contact was established. The reasons: the financial demands of certain selling clubs and the lack of motivation from the players themselves to join Paris.

The other identified gap concerns the attacking sector, though not necessarily a pure striker. The profile sought would rather be a midfielder capable of pushing forward to supply the attacking line. L’Équipe does not specify further details, and mystery remains over the identity of the player targeted.

Luis Campos and his staff will therefore approach this winter project without rushing, depending on the opportunities that arise. The immediate priority remains the gradual build-up of the squad, with the Ligue des Champions round of 16 in sight. The January transfer window could nevertheless bring some targeted adjustments before this decisive deadline.
