Michael Olise has been suspended for Bayern Munich’s Champions League match against Arsenal after being sent off for throwing the ball into an opponent’s face during a 3-3 draw away at Norwegian side Viking.

The France international picked up two yellow cards in quick succession, first for a professional foul and then for hurling the ball into the face of Viking captain Zlatko Tripic. The dismissal means Olise will miss next week’s tie against the Premier League champions.

Bayern had fought back from two goals down to lead 3-2, with Harry Kane scoring twice and Luis Diaz adding a third, but the Norwegian champions levelled through substitute Herman Haugen after Olise’s sending off to claim a memorable result.

“It was our own fault,” Bayern boss Vincent Kompany said after the match. “This red card was super dumb… you can see in [Michael’s] eyes that he’s sorry about it and that he regrets letting the team down.”

Elsewhere in the Champions League, Anthony Gordon scored his first goal in the competition for Barcelona as they came from behind to beat Galatasaray 4-1 in Istanbul. Hansi Flick’s side had fallen behind to a first-half strike from Aleksey Batrakov before Joao Cancelo equalised just before the break. Fermin Lopez put Barcelona ahead five minutes after the restart, Gordon extended the lead, and Karim Adeyemi wrapped up the win with a finish into the bottom corner in the 65th minute.

In other results, Club Brugge won a thrilling contest 4-3 away at Inter Milan, RB Leipzig beat PSV Eindhoven 1-0, and Villarreal were 3-1 winners at home to Napoli. Sporting Lisbon claimed a 2-0 victory away at Lens, while Azerbaijani side Sabah recorded their first Champions League win, defeating Slavia Prague 2-0 at home.
