Norris arrives at Silverstone in classic Jaguar E-type before sprint podium finish
Lando Norris turned heads at his home circuit by driving a 1960s Jaguar E-type 4.2 to the British Grand Prix, before going on to claim third place in the sprint race behind Kimi Antonelli and Lewis Hamilton.
Lando Norris made a characterful entrance at Silverstone on Friday, arriving for the British Grand Prix weekend behind the wheel of a classic Jaguar E-type 4.2 — one of the most celebrated British sports cars of the 1960s. Footage of the McLaren driver pulling into his home circuit spread rapidly online, with a video on the official F1 TikTok page accumulating more than 210,000 views and 23,000 likes.
The E-type is powered by a 4.2-litre inline-six engine producing up to 265 horsepower, capable of reaching 60mph from rest in 7.6 seconds and topping out at approximately 150mph. It sits alongside an eclectic personal collection that includes a bespoke McLaren 765LT Spider, a McLaren P1, a McLaren Senna, a Ferrari F40, a Lamborghini Miura P400, a Porsche Carrera GT, a Shelby Cobra 427, a Lamborghini Urus Performante, a Liberty Walk Nissan Skyline GT-R R32, a Fiat 500 Jolly Evocation and a custom roofless Land Rover Defender 90.
The stylish arrival was quickly overshadowed by on-track business. Norris qualified sixth for the sprint race and converted that into a third-place finish across the 17-lap contest, crossing the line behind race winner Kimi Antonelli and Lewis Hamilton.
The result reflects a season that has been competitive but inconsistent for the reigning drivers’ champion. Norris currently sits fourth in the standings on 85 points — two ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in fifth, but 47 points adrift of Hamilton in third.
His two podiums this season came at the Miami Grand Prix, where he finished second, and at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, where he was part of an all-British top three. That race saw Hamilton claim his first victory with Ferrari, with Mercedes’ George Russell finishing second and Norris third.
