Natalia Silva is the new UFC women’s flyweight champion after defeating Wang Cong by unanimous decision — 48-47, 48-47 and 49-46 — in the UFC 332 main event on Saturday, claiming the undisputed 125-pound title.

It was not a fight built on highlight-reel exchanges, but Silva made her case methodically. Her speed and accuracy frustrated Wang throughout all five rounds, and by the championship stanzas Wang was throwing wide, desperate punches in search of a finish that never came.

“I am so happy,” Silva said after the final horn. “I want to tell this to everyone — don’t give up on anything. This belt here is because God gave me the opportunity. I knew she was a tough fighter. This fight proved why she was challenging me. This is the beginning of Natalia Silva. I’m the new queen.”

Silva opened with frantic movement that unsettled the more measured Wang in the opening round, and the pattern held as the fight progressed. A lightning-quick head kick in the second round rattled Wang and sent the fight briefly to the ground, with Silva continuing to outclass her opponent on the restart.

The third round brought more of the same. Another kick from Silva took Wang off her feet momentarily, and Silva’s confidence visibly grew with each exchange. Wang landed some solid body kicks but could not match Silva’s overall output or variety — low leg kicks, body shots and head strikes kept Wang constantly adjusting.

Wang’s best moment came late in the fifth, when she caught Silva with a stiff left hook and pressed forward with urgency. It was not enough to shift the scorecards, and Silva weathered the pressure to seal the championship.

With the title now in hand, Silva’s next major challenge appears clear. Former champion Valentina Shevchenko is currently sidelined, and a unification bout to fully cement Silva’s reign looks inevitable once Shevchenko is healthy and ready to compete.
