Charles Oliveira makes his first defence of the BMF title against Diego Lopes in the main event of UFC 335 on December 12 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Lopes, a two-time featherweight title challenger, makes his lightweight debut in the high-stakes matchup.
Charles Oliveira will make the first defence of his BMF title against Diego Lopes in the main event of UFC 335 on December 12 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the UFC announced on Saturday.
Oliveira claimed the BMF belt earlier this year when he thoroughly dominated Max Holloway at UFC 326 in March — the former lightweight champion’s second UFC title. After speculation that he could return sooner, the Brazilian is now set for his first outing since that victory.
Lopes, meanwhile, steps up to lightweight for the first time. The Mexican fighter has twice challenged for the featherweight title and has long hinted at a move up in weight. A win over Oliveira would represent the defining result of his career and add the BMF title to his résumé.
The card is further bolstered by a heavyweight co-main event featuring Alex Pereira, who makes his second appearance at 265 pounds against Sergei Pavlovich. Middleweight rivals Bo Nickal and Joe Pyfer are also scheduled to meet on the card.
