AS Monaco began their Ligue 1 season with a 1-0 victory away at Le Havre on Sunday at Stade Océane, in the opening day of the championship. Eric Dier scored the decisive goal in the 14th minute, giving the Monégasques three points without any trouble.
This match also marked the debut of Filipe Luis on the AS Monaco bench in French top-flight football. The Brazilian manager was able to rely on a solid team, which did not allow the Havrais to get back into the match after the opening goal.
Monaco thus joins OM, Lens, OL and Lille among the teams that started the season with a win. The schedule promises to be immediately demanding for the club: from the second day, they will host Olympique de Marseille at Louis-II, a clash that will allow a better assessment of Monaco’s ambitions.
The week promises to be busy for Monaco, who also had to secure their ticket to the Ligue Europa Conférence against Polish side Gornik Zabrze, following a 3-2 victory in the first leg of the playoff.
