Michail Antonio found guilty of failing to identify driver of his Lamborghini in London

Former West Ham striker Michail Antonio has been found guilty of failing to identify the driver of his Lamborghini after the car was spotted being driven without due care and attention on Pall Mall in central London last November. The verdict was delivered at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court, where the 36-year-old had been charged by the Metropolitan Police.

Antonio told the court he was not behind the wheel that night, explaining that he had allowed his cousin to borrow the Lamborghini while he himself was away in Manchester. His defence rested largely on the claim that he never received the initial police letter requesting the identity of the driver, suggesting it had been lost in the post.

The footballer also gave evidence that he was “shocked” to learn in February that he had been formally charged with the offence — a charge that relates to a legal obligation on registered vehicle owners to assist police investigations into suspected motoring offences.

Antonio suffered a serious car accident in December 2024 and has not played professionally since. He spent much of last season on loan at CF Montréal in MLS after leaving West Ham, where he spent nine years and became the club’s all-time leading Premier League scorer.
