Kylian Mbappé signed one of the most spectacular goals of his career on Sunday during Real Madrid’s victory over Seville (4-1) at the Bernabéu, bringing his total to nine goals in nine Liga matches this season.

The sequence, which occurred in the 37th minute, began with a pass from Yan Diomandé deflected by Jude Bellingham. Mbappé collected the ball at full speed, eliminated Kike Salas with a right-footed feint, then finished with his left in a double touch lasting a fraction of a second. The slow-motion replays distributed by La Liga since the match have circulated massively on social media, far beyond the circle of the player’s admirers alone.

Mbappé had started his week with a goal in the UEFA Champions League against Roma, a long-range strike, his second of the season in the competition. He had also scored in the first match of Zinédine Zidane on the bench of the Turkish national team, before missing the three following matches.

With nine goals in nine Liga matchdays, the captain of the French national team is positioning himself to win a third Pichichi, which would make him the only player to win the trophy for top scorer of the Spanish championship three times in recent history. He is already a two-time defending champion.

On the world stage, Mbappé finished as top scorer of the 2026 World Cup with ten goals. The Ballon d’Or, whose ceremony takes place next week, should nevertheless elude him: Lamine Yamal, Spanish champion, elected best player in La Liga and world champion with Spain, is the clear favorite.
