Mbappé reveals he plays without insoles since childhood despite custom-made boots
In an interview with Onze Mondial, Kylian Mbappé confesses to a habit he considers bad: he has played without insoles since his childhood in Bondy, even with his current high-end custom-made boots.
Kylian Mbappé lifted the veil on a surprising habit in a lengthy interview with Onze Mondial: the Real Madrid striker has played without insoles since childhood, despite now wearing custom-made boots.
“I have a habit that is very bad, it’s not good, but I do it: I play without insoles,” said the France captain (27), before addressing a message to young players: “So to all the children: don’t remove your insoles! Keep your insoles! I made the mistake of doing that as a kid, I’ve played without insoles since I was very small.”
The Madrid-based player acknowledges the absurdity of the situation himself. “Yet I have the best boots now, I have no reason not to put insoles on. But it’s the reflex of a kid from Bondy to remove his insole, even on custom-made boots!” he added with humor.
Beyond this unexpected confession, Mbappé used the interview to address his public image frankly. “Without disrespecting anyone, those who think I’m perfect don’t have a TV!” he said, admitting he has done “stupid things” during his career. “And I’m OK with that. I think that’s good too,” he added.
On the criticism he regularly faces, the former Paris player remains philosophical: “Nobody really knows you through the TV. So it’s difficult for a person to be able to analyze. That’s why sometimes there are analyses that are out of sync with reality. But you can’t stop people from having an opinion even if sometimes it’s wrong, those are the ups and downs of life.”
