Mbappé leaves Nike after twenty years for ten-year deal with On
Kylian Mbappé has ended his two-decade partnership with Nike to sign with Swiss sportswear brand On until 2036, becoming both an ambassador and shareholder.
Kylian Mbappé has ended twenty years of collaboration with Nike to join Swiss brand On, announced the Real Madrid forward. The contract runs until 2036 and grants the 27-year-old player dual status as ambassador and shareholder.
“It’s a new chapter, a new challenge, a new opportunity,” Mbappé said in an interview with CNN. “It also corresponds to a period in my life where I want change. I’ve evolved as a player, everyone has seen that, but also as a person, and I wanted something different.”
Thierry Henry is accompanying Mbappé through this transition, whose precise details have not been disclosed. Founded in 2010, On has already partnered with personalities like Roger Federer and Zendaya, and reports revenue exceeding three billion dollars.
“I wanted to be there from the start of an adventure, to build a legacy entirely, and it was the perfect opportunity for me,” explained France’s all-time leading goalscorer and World Cup record scorer.
Mbappé also highlighted the collective dimension of the project: “I see it as a responsibility towards football fans and my own supporters, because I want to offer them something that suits them, with products in which they feel good.”
This change of equipment supplier comes as the Madrid number 10 targets his first Ballon d’Or, with the ceremony scheduled for October 26.
