Martinez, Rashford and Mainoo in doubt as United face Como with six-game winless run
Manchester United travel to Como on Wednesday in the Champions League carrying a growing injury list, with Lisandro Martinez, Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, and Kobbie Mainoo all doubts after a 1-1 draw at Leeds left Michael Carrick's side winless in six.
Manchester United head into Wednesday’s Champions League trip to Como with their injury concerns mounting, after a 1-1 draw at Elland Road on Sunday extended their winless run in all competitions to six games.
Bryan Mbeumo gave United the lead in the first half, but Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalised for Leeds after the break. It leaves Michael Carrick’s side without a win since their 4-0 Champions League victory over Sabah at Old Trafford last month.
Lisandro Martinez was substituted at half-time against Leeds after feeling his thigh. Carrick confirmed the issue post-match, saying: “He felt his thigh a little bit.” The Argentine defender is listed as a possible starter against Como, though his availability will depend on how the injury settles.
Marcus Rashford was an unused substitute at Elland Road, with Carrick managing a minor knock. “Marcus has been carrying a little bit of something so we’re managing him to a point,” the United manager said. Rashford is also in contention to feature on Wednesday.
Ayden Heaven missed the Leeds game through illness. Carrick noted: “Ayden has been ill so we had to change just a couple of things really.” The young defender could return for the midweek fixture.
Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo have both missed United’s last two matches with undisclosed injuries. Carrick offered little clarity on their timelines, saying only: “We’ll see on Luke and Kobbie.” Both are listed as possible returns against Como, though their involvement remains uncertain.
Patrick Dorgu faces a longer spell on the sidelines after picking up a thigh injury while on international duty with Denmark against Wales. Carrick confirmed the full-back is likely to be absent for “a number of weeks”, with a return pencilled in for late November or early December.
Benjamin Sesko has now missed four consecutive games with a shin problem. Carrick indicated the club is still assessing the striker before providing a clearer timeline on his return.
