Manchester City have confirmed their 23-man List A squad for the Champions League group phase, with summer signing Max Chabot earning a place despite the club considering loaning the teenager out before the transfer window closed.

The 18-year-old French goalkeeper arrived from Angers and travelled with City’s pre-season tour of Asia before his move was finalised, though he did not feature in any matches. With the loan option ultimately shelved, Chabot has been named alongside fellow summer recruit Geronimo Rulli — who joined to replace James Trafford — as City field four goalkeepers in the competition.

Chabot is one of eight new faces in City’s squad for the competition. He is joined by Rulli, Enzo Fernandez, Allan, Iliman Ndiaye, Elliot Anderson, Ayyoub Bouaddi, and Vitor Reis — the Brazilian centre-back who spent last season on loan at Girona.

City’s List A contains 23 players rather than the maximum 25, a consequence of the club being able to name only two club-trained players — Rico Lewis and Phil Foden — alongside four association-trained players. UEFA rules require a higher number of homegrown players to unlock the full 25-man allowance.

The squad is supplemented by List B, which covers players aged 21 or under who have been at the club for at least two years. Nico O’Reilly and Ryan McAidoo both qualify under those criteria and remain available to Pep Guardiola for the competition without occupying a List A spot.

Manchester City’s 23-man Champions League squad:

Goalkeepers: Donnarumma, Rulli, Bettinelli, Chabot

Defenders: Khusanov, Nunes, Dias, Guehi, Gvardiol, Ait-Nouri, Lewis

Midfielders: Anderson, Bouaddi, Kovacic, Fernandez

Forwards: Cherki, Foden, Doku, Allan, Ndiaye, Semenyo, Haaland
