Liverpool sign Bradley Barcola from PSG for £106m in summer's biggest deal

Liverpool have signed Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain for an initial fee of £106m, with the deal potentially rising to £123m, making the France international one of the most expensive arrivals in Premier League history.

The 23-year-old joins Andoni Iraola’s squad on a five-year contract and will wear the No 29 shirt at Anfield. Barcola had been a Liverpool target throughout the summer and, despite interest from other clubs, made clear his desire to move to Merseyside.

The signing continues a period of extraordinary investment at Liverpool. Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz both arrived for fees exceeding £100m last summer, and Barcola becomes the third player in that bracket within two transfer windows.

Capped 28 times by France, Barcola was a key part of the PSG side that won back-to-back Champions League titles in 2025 and 2026, coming off the bench in both finals. His arrival adds another dimension to Liverpool’s attacking options at a time when the club is also weighing up whether to allow Cody Gakpo to join Manchester City.

“It’s a great pride to be able to play for Liverpool. I’m very happy,” Barcola said after completing the move. “It took a long time but I’m really happy today to be able to play for Liverpool and all I want is to be on the pitch and be able to play.”

Barcola cited the atmosphere at Anfield as a decisive factor in his decision, having experienced it first-hand as a visiting player. “I had the chance to play twice in this stadium and I saw the atmosphere and how the fans were behind the Liverpool players,” he said. “When I knew about Liverpool’s interest in me, I didn’t ask questions and I knew it was a very big club for me.”

The forward also outlined his ambitions at the club, naming a Premier League title as a primary goal. “I hope to achieve very big things. First of all, winning the Premier League — it’s one of my biggest dreams in my life,” he added.

Barcola joins Victor Munoz and Jeremy Jacquet as senior arrivals at Anfield this summer, with the possibility of further additions still to come depending on outgoing business.
