Liverpool have made contact with Real Madrid over a potential move for midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, as new manager Andoni Iraola looks to reshape the squad following a fifth-place Premier League finish last season.

Real Madrid are reportedly open to selling the 23-year-old Frenchman — valued at approximately £52m — to help finance other summer business. However, Camavinga himself is said to be reluctant to leave the Bernabeu. The midfielder missed out on France’s World Cup 2026 squad and is understood to want to prove his worth to incoming Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho, having instructed his agents not to entertain offers.

Separately, Liverpool’s pursuit of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande has run into significant resistance. The Reds have reportedly shown a willingness to pay £86m for the Ivory Coast international, who has caught the eye at World Cup 2026, but Leipzig are holding out for a fee in excess of £100m. Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be monitoring the situation.

Diomande is viewed at Anfield as a potential long-term successor to Mohamed Salah, whose departure is among several expected squad changes this window. Liverpool have already completed the signings of Victor Munoz from Osasuna and Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, the latter agreed back in February.

A subplot that could yet influence the Diomande chase involves PSG forward Randal Kolo Muani. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus officials are travelling to France to hold talks with PSG over a deal for the striker, who spent last season on loan at Tottenham. Should Kolo Muani depart, it could create both the squad space and the financial headroom for PSG to enter the race for Diomande — a development Liverpool will be watching closely.

Iraola’s arrival as Arne Slot’s successor marks a significant shift at Anfield. The former Bournemouth head coach inherits a side that won the Premier League title in 2023-24 but slipped to fifth the following campaign, and the club’s summer recruitment will be central to any attempt to close the gap on the division’s top sides.
