Liverpool close in on Barcola for £106m as Rashford and Alvarez sagas drag on
Liverpool are edging towards a £106m deal for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, a significant reduction on PSG's original £145m asking price. Marcus Rashford's future at Manchester United and Arsenal's pursuit of Julian Alvarez also remain unresolved ahead of the window closing.
Liverpool are closing in on a deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola for a guaranteed fee of £106 million, with a further £17 million in potential add-ons, as the transfer window approaches its 11pm deadline on Monday.
The agreed structure represents a sharp drop from the £145 million PSG had been demanding earlier in the summer, suggesting the French club have softened their stance to push the deal through before the market shuts. Should the move be confirmed, Barcola would link up with Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola — with an away fixture against Ipswich Town on Friday 5 September potentially among his first opportunities to feature.
Elsewhere, Arsenal’s pursuit of Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez appears to be losing momentum, with no breakthrough reported as the deadline approaches. The Argentina international had been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, but the deal now looks increasingly unlikely to materialise.
Marcus Rashford’s situation at Manchester United also remains unresolved. The forward has been reintegrated into the squad under caretaker manager Michael Carrick, but uncertainty over his long-term future at Old Trafford persists with the window set to close.
Chelsea, who have been among the most active clubs in this window, may also have further business to complete. Reports suggest Enzo Fernandez could be edging towards a move to Manchester City, which would prompt a response from the Stamford Bridge hierarchy before the deadline.
