Liverpool agree £123m deal for Barcola as PSG drop asking price by £22m

Liverpool have agreed a £123m deal to sign Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, with a medical for the 23-year-old winger expected within the next 24 hours as the summer transfer window approaches its close.

PSG had initially valued Barcola at around £145m to ward off interest, but their stance softened after the France international fell out of favour under Luis Enrique. The arrivals of Mika Godts and Maghnes Akliouche, competing for wide positions behind Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue, further reduced PSG’s leverage — allowing Liverpool to negotiate a saving of £22m on the original valuation.

According to The Athletic, the agreed fee comprises a guaranteed £106m up front, with a further £17m in performance-related add-ons.

Barcola’s arrival addresses a clear need. Liverpool opened their Premier League season with a 2-2 draw at Newcastle United’s St James’ Park last Sunday, with the Reds struggling to create in the final third. The Lyon-born winger recorded 11 goals and two assists in Ligue 1 alone last term and caught the eye for France at the World Cup this summer.

Barcola is not the only attacking reinforcement Liverpool are pursuing before the window shuts. The club have also agreed a five-year contract with Crystal Palace midfielder Ismaila Sarr, though negotiations with Palace over a transfer fee are ongoing after the Eagles rejected an opening bid of around £51m for the 28-year-old.
