Lekjaa predicts Morocco-France final at Hassan II Stadium for 2030 World Cup

Fouzi Lekjaa leaves no room for doubt: the 2030 World Cup final will be held at Hassan II Stadium in Benslimane, Morocco, not at Santiago-Bernabéu. The president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation made these remarks at a meeting organized by the Authenticity and Modernity Party in Bouznika, directly attacking the Spanish press which regularly presents the Madrid venue as the favorite.

“Every day, I hear the blabla from Marca… The final will be in Benslimane, at Hassan II Stadium,” he declared, cited by Afrik Foot. The official went further in sketching the ideal matchup for this final: “Hassan II Stadium in Benslimane province is where the 2030 World Cup final will take place. And, God willing, the final will be between Morocco and France so that we can take our revenge.”

The reference is explicit. Morocco was eliminated by France in the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, then suffered another defeat to the Blues at the 2026 World Cup. Two confrontations that fuel the rivalry between the two teams and give Lekjaa’s statement particular resonance.

On the substance of the matter, nothing has been settled yet. FIFA has not officially designated the host stadium for the 2030 final, whose organization is shared between Morocco, Spain and Portugal, with three commemorative matches in South America. But the balance seems to be shifting. Last July, The Athletic reported that a source close to the Spanish file acknowledged that Morocco’s position, deemed “impossible” eighteen months earlier, was now “much more solid.”

Lekjaa has displayed this certainty for nearly a year. The institutional situation of Gianni Infantino, whose authority at the head of FIFA is going through turbulent times, could still influence the outcome of a matter that has not finished making headlines.
