FC Barcelona host Real Madrid this Sunday (21:00) at Camp Nou for matchday 10 of La Liga, with a seriously depleted squad. Four days after their first defeat of the season on PSG’s pitch (4-2) in the Champions League, the Blaugrana will have to manage without several key players for this first Clásico of the season.

The most concerning case is that of Jules Koundé. Already absent in Paris due to a left ankle sprain, the French international trained away from the group again on Friday. His participation in the Clásico is very much in doubt, and young Xavi Espart is expected to be deployed again on the right side of defence.

Dani Olmo, injured in the left adductor during the PSG match, is officially unavailable for approximately one month. Eric Garcia is also ruled out after suffering a right quadriceps injury during Barcelona’s home game against Betis last weekend. Andreas Christensen, meanwhile, is still in his recovery phase and will not be available either.

Hansi Flick therefore finds himself forced to reshape his defensive setup for one of the most anticipated matches of the La Liga season. Real Madrid, tonight’s opponent, arrive at Camp Nou in a context where Barcelona’s absences could weigh heavily on the balance of the match.
