PSG-OL postponed to Monday, October 26, clashing with Ballon d'Or ceremony
The Paris police prefecture banned PSG-OL on Sunday evening due to insufficient police resources. The LFP officially rescheduled the Matchday 8 clash to Monday, October 26 at 8:30 p.m.
The Matchday 8 clash between PSG and OL, originally scheduled for Sunday evening at 8:45 p.m., has been officially postponed by the Professional Football League to Monday, October 26 at 8:30 p.m.
The decision follows an order from the Paris police prefecture banning the organization of the match. “The LFP takes note of the order from the Paris police prefecture prohibiting the organization of the Paris Saint-Germain – Olympique Lyonnais match,” the body stated in an official statement.
The reason cited is logistical: law enforcement will not be able to ensure the security of the match on Sunday evening, as they are mobilized by the NFL game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New Orleans Saints scheduled for the same afternoon at Stade de France in Saint-Denis.
The new date raises a calendar curiosity: Monday, October 26 at 8:30 p.m. corresponds precisely to the time of the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony, held this year at the London Palladium in London. The duel between the two leading teams in the French championship will therefore be played simultaneously with one of the most-watched evenings in world football.
