Isak and Szoboszlai return to boost Liverpool for unbeaten Brentford test
Alexander Isak and Dominik Szoboszlai are back in Liverpool's starting lineup for the Premier League trip to unbeaten Brentford, with Andoni Iraola making five changes from the 6-3 Europa League win over LASK.
Alexander Isak and Dominik Szoboszlai have recovered from injury to start for Liverpool in their Premier League visit to unbeaten Brentford, with manager Andoni Iraola making five changes from the midweek side.
Both players missed Liverpool’s matches against Manchester City and LASK after picking up knocks during the international break. Their return is a significant boost, with Brentford yet to lose in the league this season.
Isak and Szoboszlai come in for Lewis Koumas and Trey Nyonyi, who featured in the 6-3 win in Austria. Virgil van Dijk, Alexis Mac Allister and Victor Munoz also return to the starting eleven, while the suspended Ryan Gravenberch and winger Rio Ngumoha drop out.
Cody Gakpo, who suffered an injury on international duty with the Netherlands last month, is named among the substitutes as he continues his return to fitness.
Brentford are without top scorer Kevin Schade from the start after he hurt his shoulder in last week’s 2-2 draw at Aston Villa, with the forward only fit enough for a place on the bench.
Former Liverpool centre-back Sepp van den Berg returns from injury to start for the hosts, while goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher — who joined Brentford from Liverpool — will face his former club.
