Manchester United are monitoring Real Betis striker Troy Parrott as a potential transfer target, with scouts dispatched to watch the 24-year-old in both La Liga and the Champions League, according to Spanish outlet Fichero. The Republic of Ireland international carries a release clause of £67.5m and is contracted to Betis until 2031.

Parrott joined Betis in the summer for £17m after a prolific spell at AZ Alkmaar, where he scored 51 goals in 97 appearances across all competitions. He has continued that form in Spain, contributing two goals and one assist in seven matches this season as Manuel Pellegrini’s side sit among the early pacesetters in La Liga.

United’s interest is driven by a pressing need at centre-forward. Benjamin Sesko, the club’s first-choice striker, remains sidelined with injury and there is currently no clear timeline for his return. The club chose not to sign a backup for the Slovenian during the summer window, leaving Joshua Zirkzee as the second option despite the Dutch forward appearing close to leaving on deadline day — a decision that has drawn criticism from sections of the fanbase.

Fichero reports that United are specifically seeking a No.9 with potential who can make an immediate impact, and that Parrott’s link-up play, physical strength, and clinical finishing fit that profile. The report adds that his performances have sparked “serious interest” from the Premier League more broadly, with Tottenham — his former club — also said to be considering a move as Roberto De Zerbi looks to reinforce his attack.

Despite the scouting activity, there is no indication at this stage that United are ready to make a formal approach. The £67.5m release clause represents a significant financial commitment, and the club’s interest remains at the monitoring stage.
