Injured in thigh against OM, Zaïre-Emery ruled out for France's four Nations League matches
Suffering a slight left thigh injury during the Classique against Marseille, Warren Zaïre-Emery has withdrawn from the France squad for the Nations League international window. Maghnes Akliouche replaces him in Zinédine Zidane's group.
Warren Zaïre-Emery will not join the France squad for the Nations League international window. The PSG midfielder, injured in his left thigh during the Classique against Olympique de Marseille on Sunday evening, officially withdrew on Monday from the four upcoming matches.
The player had been called up on Friday among the 23 initial France players selected by Zinédine Zidane, the new France manager. The French Football Federation (FFF) announced his absence after consultation between the medical staffs of the club and the national team, specifying that he was suffering from an adductor injury. Maghnes Akliouche, his PSG teammate, was called up as a replacement.
The Paris club confirmed the diagnosis early in the evening, describing it as “a slight left thigh injury”. Zaïre-Emery will remain in treatment this week, but PSG shows no concern about the length of his unavailability. The versatile midfielder should be fit in time for the resumption of Ligue 1, with a match scheduled against Le Mans on October 10.
France will play four Nations League matches during this international window: against Turkey, Belgium twice, and Italy.
