Paixao reassures OM after injury scare in Classique
Withdrawn in the first half of the Classique lost to PSG (1-2), Brazilian winger Igor Paixao confirmed via Instagram that he was not injured, good news for an OM side bottom of the table after five matchdays.
Igor Paixao was not injured during the Classique. The OM Brazilian winger, withdrawn in the first half of the match lost to PSG (1-2) on Sunday evening at the Vélodrome, posted a reassuring message on his Instagram account on Tuesday.
“Better days are coming! Thank you for the kind messages, I’m fine. I’m not injured!”, wrote the 26-year-old player, after a right knee injury was feared in the hours following the match.
The news comes at just the right time for Bruno Genesio. The new Marseille manager is going through a catastrophic start to the season: OM sits in 17th place in Ligue 1 after five matchdays, with only three points and four defeats. A record the club had not posted at this stage of a season since 2011-2012, fifteen years ago.
The international break gives the OM staff some time to catch their breath and prepare for what’s next. OM will return to action on October 11 at Troyes, before traveling to Angers on October 18.
