Guendouzi's catastrophic pass gifts Slavia Prague equalizer against Fenerbahçe
Trailing 2-0 from the 11th minute, Slavia Prague capitalized on a gross error from Matteo Guendouzi to pull back to 2-1, before snatching a 2-2 draw late in the match against Fenerbahçe in Istanbul.
Matteo Guendouzi gifted a goal to Slavia Prague with a pass delivered directly to an opponent, allowing the Czech side to fight back and secure a 2-2 draw against Fenerbahçe on Tuesday evening in Istanbul during the third matchday of the Ligue des Champions league phase.
The Turkish side had started brilliantly: Oguz Aydin (4th minute) and then Mason Greenwood (11th minute) quickly put the score at 2-0. But in the 15th minute, Guendouzi inexplicably played the ball directly to Lukas Provod, who found himself alone in front of goalkeeper Ederson and calmly reduced the deficit. The French international midfielder, starting in Fenerbahçe’s midfield, could only witness the damage.
Fenerbahçe then appeared to hold the result until the final seconds, but Pavel Kacor equalized in the 90th minute to earn a precious point for Slavia Prague.
In the other match of the evening, Borussia Dortmund won away at Sabah FC thanks to a brace from Serhou Guirassy. The Guinean striker opened the scoring in the 10th minute, before Aden McCarthy leveled for the hosts. Guirassy sealed the German victory in the 53rd minute, allowing BVB to leave with all three points.
