Antoine Griezmann is making a convincing start to his MLS career with Orlando City, but the 2018 World Cup winner must contend with an unexpected opponent: the humid heat of Florida.

During Orlando’s victory over San Diego (1-0) this weekend, the Mâcon native appeared visibly out of breath, a victim of particularly high humidity levels, characteristic of Florida summers. A factor that the former Atlético de Madrid striker may not have fully anticipated when choosing Orlando to finish his career.

On the sporting front, the balance sheet remains largely positive. In four matches, Griezmann has scored four goals and provided two assists, propelling a team that was among the weakest in the league before his arrival to seven points in four games.

His impact has not gone unnoticed by his teammates. “Every time I pass to him, I feel like he’s capable of doing something,” said young Justin Ellis, who provided the decisive assist against San Diego. “That’s why I’m always looking for him. With Grizi, it’s pretty easy.”

Welcomed with great fanfare by the club, Griezmann has quickly established himself as the idol of Orlando’s fans, to whom he devotes long moments of interaction after each match.
