Grealish returns to Everton on loan as Ndiaye seals £65m Manchester City move

Jack Grealish is returning to Everton on a season-long loan from Manchester City, with his medical booked and the deal expected to be completed before the 11pm BST transfer deadline on Tuesday. The move runs parallel to Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye completing a transfer to City in a deal worth up to £65 million.

Grealish, 30, spent the first half of the 2025/26 season at Goodison Park, contributing two goals and six assists in 22 appearances before a foot injury in January cut his loan short. His final appearance of that spell came against Aston Villa on 18 January. He has since recovered, featuring from the bench in Manchester City’s 3-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal and their 2-1 Premier League win over Bournemouth.

Ndiaye’s move to City was confirmed by transfer expert David Ornstein, with the Senegalese winger’s medical set to be completed on Tuesday morning. The 26-year-old had been widely expected to join Tottenham Hotspur just days earlier, before City swooped in with an agreement of £60 million plus £5 million in add-ons, according to BBC Sport. Across two seasons at Everton, Ndiaye scored 17 goals and registered three assists in 74 appearances.

The deal’s shape shifted significantly after a proposed return for former Everton forward Richarlison collapsed. The Brazilian had been linked with a sentimental homecoming, but on Monday he posted a statement on social media indicating negotiations had broken down. “My intention was to go back to the place where I was very happy, yes, but the negotiations happened only in the way certain people wanted, and it will no longer be like that,” Richarlison wrote, adding that he would remain at Tottenham’s disposal.

With Richarlison’s return off the table, Grealish’s loan became the primary incoming move for Everton. The club are also reported to be pursuing further attacking reinforcements before the deadline closes, with USMNT forward Folarin Balogun among the names on their radar.
