Amine Gouiri could leave Olympique de Marseille before the summer transfer window closes on September 1st. According to Corriere dello Sport and Corriere del Mezzogiorno, Tottenham and Naples have made moves for the 26-year-old Algerian international, whom OM values at between €25 and €30 million.

Spurs’ interest is reportedly growing. Roberto De Zerbi, who worked with Gouiri at Marseille, would welcome a fresh collaboration with the striker, whom he knows and appreciates. On Naples’ side, the Partenopei club has reportedly already made “a concrete attempt” to secure his services, according to Corriere del Mezzogiorno.

Gouiri is coming off an encouraging start to the season: he scored a brace on the opening day of Ligue 1, confirming the starting number 9 status that De Zerbi has given him. This form is only fuelling competition between the two suitors.

OM, for its part, is not in a strong position to retain its players. The Phocaean club must lighten its wage bill before the market closes and could therefore be willing to sell if one of the two offers reaches the asking price. The transfer window closes in less than two weeks, which should accelerate negotiations.
