Barcelona report PSG to Uefa over bloody chainsaw-massacre banner at Parc des Princes
Barcelona have filed a complaint with Uefa after PSG supporters unveiled a Halloween-themed tifo depicting a masked man cutting through the Catalan club's crest with a bloody chainsaw before Tuesday's Champions League clash in Paris.
Barcelona have formally reported Paris Saint-Germain to Uefa after PSG supporters displayed a banner showing a masked figure wielding a bloody chainsaw through the Barcelona club crest ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League match at the Parc des Princes.
The Halloween-themed tifo also bore the phrase ‘Massacre, Parisian style’, and was accompanied by fireworks that sent sparks cascading through the stands. Barcelona, citing the display as “overly aggressive and offensive”, lodged their complaint via the Press Association, with ESPN also reporting the club’s objections.
Uefa declined to comment on the matter, but its disciplinary body is expected to assess official match reports before determining whether any punishment is warranted. The fireworks display alone could constitute a separate charge under Uefa’s stadium safety regulations.
On the pitch, PSG ran out 4-2 winners to hand Barcelona their first defeat of the season. Lamine Yamal had equalised for the visitors, but late goals from Vitinha and Fabián Ruiz sealed victory for the back-to-back European champions.
The result was overshadowed further by a significant injury blow for PSG: star winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, ruling him out for an extended period. Ousmane Dembélé and captain Marquinhos are also set to miss several weeks after both sustained thigh injuries during the same match, leaving Luis Enrique’s squad considerably depleted ahead of a congested fixture schedule.
